Mapping and Analytical Systems

This subject area deals with how we represent the earth and how we collect, organize and analyze data about the earth. It is currently divided into the following modules: Projection Systems, Charting & Navigation, Data Collection, and Digital Data.

Students will gain an understanding of data collection and representation, and they will be introduced to the fundamentals of projection and cartography. In addition, students will begin to learn about digital data, how it is gathered and used, and where it is available.
