The Aleutian Islands form part of
the northern boundary of the “Ring
of Fire” which bounds the Pacific.
Forming an arc which extends from
Alaska to the Kamchatka
Peninsula, the islands separate the
Pacific from the Aleutian Basin and
the Bering Sea. This region, too, is a
major source of volcanic and
earthquake activity, and has been
the source of tsunamis.
