As early as the 1920's, scientists noted that earthquakes are concentrated in very specific narrow zones. In 1954, French seismologist J.P. Rothe published this map showing the concentration of earthquakes along the zones indicated by dots and cross-hatched areas. We are teachers and students participating in the COAST- Pathfinder program. It is a 16 day program designed to enhance our teaching of marine science.  This is an excellent opportunity for us  to get hands on experience with the material that we present to our students.
